Hanif obtained his BSc. in Agriculture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and his MPhil in Crop Science (Plant pathology) from University of Ghana. His MPhil research was sponsored by the A. G. Leventis Foundation. He surveyed, identified and morphometrically characterized plant parasitic nematodes associated with tomatoes in different agro ecological zones of Ghana during his MPhil.
In March, 2019, he joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research- Oil Palm Research Institute of Ghana (CSIR-OPRI) as a Principal Technologist and has since been involved in conducting demand driven research at the Plant Pathology Section of Crop Protection Division, CSIR-OPRI.
His Current research includes the Identification of nematodes associated with oil palm in Ghana and Studies into the interaction between Fusarium oxysporum f.sp elaeidis and Meloidogyne spp. on oil palm. He has varied research interests in both fungal pathogens and nematode pest management. He has a desire to develop low cost, sustainable and environmentally friendly tools in the management of pests and diseases associated with food crops in Ghana.
Hanif has authored some important scientific refereed journal papers which have been published in reputable journals both locally and internationally.
He aspires to become a renowned plant protectionist (pathology / nematology) to help improve on the livelihood of farmers by contributing significantly to reducing crop losses resulting from pests and diseases. He also wishes to impart knowledge that he acquires to future plant pathologists through consultations, advocacy and lecturing.
He is a member of CSIR- Research Staff Association (RSA), Ghana Science Association and Plant Protection Society of Ghana.
