The division has a broad objective of developing sustainable agro-management/cultural practices to ensure optimum production of oil palm through research.
The division specializes in the following disciplines/thematic areas:
This section deals with the vegetative parameters measurement of both matured field and nursery palms.
The section is responsible for taking the measurements of the yield of the oil palm and other intercrops
This section takes daily data on the weather parameters and helps interpret to establish suitable weather patterns for farmers and policy makers.
The section renders animal husbandry services and takes data on oil palm-ruminants integration system trials.
The Division collaborates with several local and International Institutions to achieve its objectives. Local institutions include the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA); Solidaridad West Africa; Twifo Oil Palm Plantations Ltd, Benso Oil Palm Plantation Ltd, Universities in Ghana, Ministry of local Government and Rural Development among others. Internationally, the Division has strong links with University of Bonn, Germany, CIRAD of France and National Crops Resources Research Institute of Uganda.
